What is Irish On Deck?
Irish On Deck is the best online source for Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish athletic news. No other site offers the type of coverage for McGuinness games than IOD. We launched in the summer of 2009, and created this to help parents, fans, and students follow their Irish like never before. IOD offers score updates on their Twitter page, and honestly, there is no better place to get your Irish sports fill.
Who Are the Writers?
The site was started by Joe Bendiez, who does everything from taking the photographs, recording video, and analyzing for every article. Tommy Bailey is also a part of the IOD team. In football terms, I would be the quarterback of IOD, and Tommy would be the kicker. He doesn’t do a whole lot, but we keep him around when we need to get the job done (mainly on our Facebook page.)
What is it called “Irish On Deck?”
Why is a hamburger called a hamburger if there isn’t any ham in it? We cover Irish sports, and the name sounds cool. Rolls off the tongue if you ask me, especially if you just call it I-O-D.
