No one at Pribil Stadium was more angry than the actual McGuinness football team. After the heart-breaking loss to Kelley, the Irish sought revenge on highly-favored Millwood to regain confidence. And tonight was all about the Irish’s star RB LaRone Richardson, who made Millwood look like a group of Pop Warner defenders. Although the defense gave up four touchdowns to the quick, athletic Millwood offense, the McGuinness squad were victorious.

Despite the score, McGuinness’ defensive line was living in the backfield all day long. Millwood escaped the pressure, and the Irish gave up huge plays, but a win is a win. The offense got out to an early 13-0 lead, and was up 20-7 at the half.

New QB Camden Tharp replicated Quinn Shanbour’s performance against Guthrie. Tharp was extremely solid in this game, and didn’t put any doubt in any Irish fan’s mind that we won’t win games without Shanbour.

I stopped by to talk with LaRone Richardson after the game, and told us that the team had a lot to prove, and all aspects were clicking. They used that anger from the Kelley game to bring it to the Falcons.

Irish now 2-1, definitely have a lot to deal with, as their is no easy road to the 4A State Championship, but this Irish team was nonetheless, impressive tonight.
